Framing Devonport
19 June - 6 July
This project explores Devonport’s heritage buildings and homes. Started during Covid with lockdown walks, this project gestated while admiring the architectural beauty of villas in the suburb of Te Hau Kapua Devonport. The works feature photographic images of heritage buildings and homes, presented within sourced frames, sitting upon a constructed box. Details of architectural features are cut away and a light source illuminates from within to convey a different life at night. This interplay of day/night and light/space reflects historical significance, beauty, and place.(Art work is back lit by battery with a low v bulb)
