‘Lessons not Learned’ are my responses to “Song of Solomon’, Hotere and McQueen’s into human nature and history. The current horrors erupting in the Middle East resound on the never-ending conflict throughout its recorded history. Death, sorrow and pain of biblical proportions.
Lindsay Antrobus Evans
Lindsay Antrobus Evans is an Australian mixed media sculptor. Born in Sydney, New South Wales, in 1953, Lindsay has resided in New Zealand, mostly in
Hokianga, since 1992.
His work investigates, through a variety of media and an indulgence in the tactility and sensuousness of the actual making, themes of transcendence desire and culpability.
“Wood has always been a companion for me - from my early baby days crawling around on the sprung kauri floorboards in my old familial home in Sydney, to the cherished objects that inhabit and make up my home today. This landscape, this harbour,
this river, these towns and communities are historically and psychically wedded to trees and timber.
At home here now my ‘work’ centres around art, craft and DIY - sculpture, woodwork exhibiting and curating. My skills have always been hands-on.
