For the last six years Carlson’s jewellery has been exploring the function of the body, its proper language and position in society. Her narrative is about attitude towards adornment, non-gender, ageing, Covid impact.

Her practice focuses now on research about recycling/upcycling and reviving ancient techniques to promote craftsmanship.

Beatrice Carlson is an interdisciplinary artist with a French fashion design background.

Arrived in New Zealand in 2004 and after 10 years of corporate apparel design in New Zealand & Australia, she decides to focus exclusively on her art practice in 2015.

Carlson favours Perspex as her medium in visual art and printmaking. It is versatile and the least non-toxic material.

10 times finalist of the World of WearableArt Awards (2010-2019), her Awards winning garment in Perspex and Harakeke is part of WOW private collection.

Since 2018, Beatrice Carlson creates one off pieces, handmade in her Devonport jewellery studio.
